media analysis

Lighting:
The main lighting technique used in this poster is back/top lighting. Although this is not creating a silhouette, it still gives a dramatic effect of the light from the back, making the side of his face and his shoulders appear brighter than the whole body. This also makes his face appear darker which connotes that he’s evil. Low key lighting has also been used which creates a dramatic contrast between the light and the dark (chiaroscuro). This creates a misty/rainy weather which might mirror the condition dramatic events take place in.
There are some bright highlights on the protagonist’s hair which connote that he might also have a ‘good’ side or that he is innocent which contradicts to what he is actually portrayed as.

Lighting:
Filler lights have been used right at the beginning of the video where we see filler lights on characters’ faces to enhance their terrifying expressions. Top lighting is been used in the next sequence where other two characters are looking up. This creates great contrast between the lighting in the background suggesting a significant event might occur. When we see the shot of the protagonist lying in bed, there is a contrast of dark on the left side and light on the male protagonist. This might be suggesting that the protagonist is innocent and the strange events are not caused by him
Year12 Trailer review
Production: Outsider
Genre: Horror

The plot of the trailer is that the female protagonist is harassed by a group of boys and gets tortured by their horrible verbal comments. She doesn't have the audacity to fight back which leads her to be raped by the group of boys, which is indicated by when the screen fades to black, and eventually dies. She then comes back as a ghost to take revenge on each one of them by killing them in their homes.
The use of non-diegetic sound eg. when the protagonist (as a ghost) appears to one of the character is effective in revealing the genre of the move. The instant shot eg. when one of the boys gets dragged into the room, the use of fast pace was extremely dramatic as it was instantly done. Expressions on the actors' faces were equally effective eg. the expressions on the female protagonist was very powerful, aggressive and violent. However, the expressions on the boys' faces were more terrfied, and frightened which indicates that something bad is going to happen to them. The female protagonist's hair covered her face  which could connote sense of enigma or mystery which again is the content of a horror movie.

www: They have used iconographies really effectively which clearly gives out the genre
Good use of instant fast pace shots
Ebi :    If they had used more camera angles like close ups, long shots, panning, point of view shots etc
